My Name is Gina Marie Cardarelli and I am the proud momma to a 10 week old English Mastiff puppy named Miles.  Back in May our family found a breeder out in Florida, and after some communication back and forth we decided to purchase this dream puppy and have him join our family mid July. After lots of planning with our 4 year old and 2 year old sons Ben and Zach, we excitedly welcomed Miles into our home on the evening of July 15th.  During our first two days with Miles we bragged about how "calm" our newest baby was but that bragging quickly turned to concern when on the morning of the 18th (not even 72 hours later) he began refusing food, had severe diarhea, vommitting and lethargy.  Miles was quickly taken to Angel Memorial in Waltham where he received subcutaneous fluids and later admitted to his primary Vet in Southboro the next morning where he tested positive for Canine Parvo Virus.  This virus has a high mortality rate and is extremely contagious to puppies and adolescent dogs.  When our puppys breeder was contacted with this information she did not take any ownership and has continued to decline knowledge of his condition.  Miles has quickly begun getting sicker and is now in the care of IVG Metrowest which is an intensive care facility where he is receiving a list of antibiotics, IV fluids, currently on a feeding tube and in need of tansfusions to support his quickly depleting white blood cells and albumin levels.  Our family is doing the best we can to support Miles' needs as we beleive the aggressive treatment is the only way to give him a chance to get through this, but with continued lack of financial support from the breeder we fear we have hit a crossroads.  We refuse to surrender this puppy as his breeder has suggested, it simply is NOT an option.  Our family is asking that you share this story and help us get this puppy healthy and home and give him the chance at the life he truly deserves...snuggling our boys and getting just as spoiled with love as they do.
