Instruments/Uniforms/Emergency Need

The East Davidson Marching Band is a long standing tradition in Thomasville, NC since 1968. In a community that suffered great industrial loss this band is a bright spot within this small town. The Marching Eagles under the direction of David Deese have proven season after season their love of music. Some of these exceptional musicians are playing instruments that are more than 25 years old. The Eagles compete each marching band season in the highest class possible against bands that are bigger with a larger boosted funded staff. They have won numerous awards against these bands such as Band of the Day and local/state competitions. These band students are marching in used uniforms that were purchased from another school and refurbished to our school colors. The East Davidson Band participates in Marching, Jazz and Concert band. The Jazz Band and Concert band have also won prestigious/superior awards as well and against many other bands in the state. Despite these instruments conditions these kids still play with great pride and have excellent showmanship. Several band alumni have gone on to prestigious colleges like: Duke University, Davidson College, Wake Forest, State, Appalachian, UNC-Chapel Hill, Air Force Academy and the Citadel. These students typically make up the top 10% of their graduating class.
