Sams story:
So, I know I mentioned that I had some news the other day...not good news...(no bun in the oven) I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It does not run in my family at all so this was a huge shock. On Tuesday I had a lumpectomy done. Everything went really well. They removed what I thought was a cyst and 4 lymph nodes to be biopsied. It will determine if I have to do chemo and radiation or just radiation. I'll find out either today or tomorrow. I had this "cyst" like lump for several months and just recently noticed it got larger. All that time I thought it would eventually go away and ignored it for too long. I have had a rough couple of weeks. As most of you know we lost our boxer Tyson on the 7th, then I lost my job the next day. I realized my insurance was going to run out so I went to the doctor to have a prescription refilled and mentioned my "cyst"... one week later found out it was cancerous. On the third week (this week) I had my procedure. If it weren't for my dog passing away I wouldn't have called into work, lost my job or gone to the doctor. You never know what God is up to but He never once left my side and I never lost my faith. I have been in good spirits throughout all of this and I couldn't have done it without the prayers and support from family and friends. Andy has been my rock and I can't even put into words how grateful I am to have a husband that loves me unconditionally. We will fight this and win! Most importantly ladies and guys too....do a thorough breast exam often and never ever ignore something that feels unusual. Fingers crossed I caught it early enough to avoid chemo!
