Hurricane Ida Devastation

Hello all,

For those who don’t know me or my family I’m Dalayna, My family and I live on West Front St, in Bridgeport which took the biggest hit from all the flooding and as of late Wednesday night September 1st, we lost everything. We have dealt with natural disasters before, but nothing to the extent that Hurricane Ida decided to leave for us. Our house was submerged under water. Everything from clothes, to food, anything and everything that our animals had, their food, their beds, their toys, OUR HOUSE AND MY CAR and everything in it. Some items that were just to valuable and sentimental to be replaced. All just gone in a matter of minutes.

Part of me wasn’t going to come on here, because anyone who knows me, knows I don’t like to ask for anything. But we NEED HELP, we all work extremely hard, each pulling our weight with full time jobs to be able to get what we had and to have it all just washed away is more devastating and heartbreaking than I would have ever imagined. EVERYTHING IS RUINED AND MOST OF IT ISN’T ABLE TO BE SAVED. My car is completely totaled, which for me is one of the worst parts. Working hard and saving to buy your first car just to have it swallowed up by the river hurts quite a bit. My means of getting to work, getting to school, getting food for our family, the only thing I have ever spent a large amount of time and money on. JUST GONE. I never knew you could grow an attachment too an inanimate object but I did and watching it get towed away after being marked as totaled was a punch to the gut.

We aren’t asking for much, anything and I mean ANYTHING IS GREATLY AND TRULY APPRECIATED. We are a proud family and I’d be the first to admit that, but even so, when something this tragic happens even the proudest of us need help.
