Cooper has had quite the week!

What was supposed to be a funfilled week with long overdue family time took a turn for the worst! My brother was leaving illinois for a family visit in California. He researched and read reviews to find a reputable sitter to give is 6 month old bernedoodle the proper care while he was away.

On (Friday, January 24th) he brought Cooper to the sitters' house and informed them of Coopers' need for companionship that he would more than likely undergo separation anxiety. It was midday (Sunday, January 26th) when my brother reached out after not receiving any updates... When the sitter informed him that he had been placed in the back yard and hopped the fence. This started Cooper's week trek (homeward bound). Leaving my brother feeling helpless to ever see his puppy again.

Cooper is my brothers road dog; he goes to work with him and is always by his side.... so the adventure out in the wild (on his own) was definitely an adventure he had never experienced!

We reached out to all the local animal shelters, animal control, and all the lost and found pages on Facebook looking for any leads! The community really came together to help navigate, watch over, and eventually obtain Cooper. There was a tracker who wiling volunteered her time and sleepless hours to make sure he returned safely. We learned his pattern was to sleep by day and travel by night.

Many close attempts of being captured eventually lead to his clever quick escape.

Unfortunately, late

Friday (January 31st), he was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross a busy road. God is SO GOOD he got up and limped off. It made the circumstances more dire than ever to obtain him. The severity of his impact was still unknown. There were more people than I could list who came to help search for him throughout the night and on their way to and from. Early in the morning on (February 1st) a member of the community was able to see him. For the first time in all the pursuits, he gave up. He didn't run he collapsed. He was done running and knew he needed help.

He was obtained and immediately rushed to the animal care clinic to assess his needs.

Cooper needs to have multiple surgeries. We need help to start the procedures. The doctor wants to repair rather than remove the ball joint on his hip, GREAT news... However, because his surgery is a stat thing, there isn't enough time to raise the money needed to have his surgery.

It needs to be paid out of pocket before the insurance takes over. We need your help!
