Mahecas UK: Send a Hospital Bed to Malawi

The main public hospitals in Malawi have less than 10 hospital beds used in intensive care units  - which makes it difficult to take care of patients needing critical care.  The number increases to 25 beds with private hospitals.

A recent survey undertaken by the Government shows a need for close to 3,000 hospital beds - though most of these would be ordinary beds than those needed for intensive care.

Mahecas UK has received over 1000 hospital beds from a UK hospital and wishes to raise funds to ship over 500 beds to be distributed in all districts hospitals to be used by patients requiring critical care.  One 40 ft container can take 60 bed at a cost of approximately £5,000. 10 containers can ship 600 beds and would cost around £50,000. A UK company has kindly donated £15,000  in addition to baby cots and mattresses.  We therefore require to raise the balance of £35,000.

Any donation will contribute towards the cost of shipping. Please Note that those that donate £100 have an option of inscribing the words "Donated by ......."  on a bed which could be donated to a District Hospital of their choice

The Beds have to be shipped out of the UK by January 16th January 2019 as the current owner is paying for storage costs.
