Rick was in Mexico vacationing with a friend when he was hospitalized after inhaling too much water and losing consciousness. He was given CPR and revived and taken to a local hospital. Due to his medical needs, he was transferred to a hospital in Cancun. He was sedated and intubated and continues to need help from a ventilator to breathe. Thanks be to God that he doesn't have any suspected brain damage from his loss of oxygen, but he does have a substantial amount of fluid on his lungs. Because he isn't in the United States, they are paying daily for his care in ICU. He has had multiple ambulance rides and will require CareFlight to get home. All of his medical expenses are to be paid up front until he gets back home, which is a major stressor.
