Hi my name is Macrina Guzman and I want to tell you about a girl named Esmeralda Gomez, aka "Esme". Esme was a young beautiful willed girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Ewings Sarcoma at the age of 14. For the last 4 years Esme was in and out of Valley Children's Hospital for blood transfusions, chemo, radiation, and other treatment. She was so determined to beat this cancer and not let it take her. She was a talented makeup artist and was about to walk her senior year of graduation this year class of 2017. The day she passed 5/19/2017 was also the day she was also awaiting to go to her senior prom in her baby blue turquoise dress and unfortunately cancer took her first. I had the opportunity to come to know Esme through my daughter Taiya Guzman and I have never a met a beautiful soul with an amazing smile in my life. Esme wanted to live life and do some amazing things before her life was taken short. Esme has a wonderful amazing mother Nancy Mendoza behind her 110% of the way taking her back and forth to hospital in Madera from their home in Sanger and spending countless nights with her daughter overseeing and watching being by her side every step of the way in this journey. No parent should have to bury their child before themselves let alone watch their child suffering from a terminal disease such as cancer. Nancy is a single mom of 4 children ages ranging from 1 to 20. Nancy worked and maintained her house and took care of her children while also attending to the care of Esme the last 4 years, selflessly. These funds will be for Esmes funeral and her mother and siblings. Please help me in making sure Esme receives a beautiful funeral and to help give her mother Nancy a break that she so well deserves.
