Support Our Sweet Kyle O'Quinn

Kyle is a student at Flying Hills Elementary school where I teach.  The Whole Flying Hills' Family wants to  support Kyle's wish to go to Hawaii to swim with the dolphins and assist his family with their medical bills.

 Here is Kyle's story:

Kyle O'Quinn's Journey,
At the young age of 2, Kyle was diagnosed with an AVM and DAVM inside his brain that was very large for a child his age.  After undergoing his second 9 hour brain surgery, at Kaiser Zion in November of 2008,  Kyle suffered a brain aneurysm, stroke, and was unresponsive in recovery.  He was rushed to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, CA. where an emergency craniotomy was performed to relieve the pressure from his brain. Kyle remained in a non-induced comma and on life support.  He was given zero chance of survival and his parents were told he had severe brain damage.
During this time the family was also expecting twins and mom was at risk for delivering prematurely.  After 12 long days of him being non responsive and no signs of progress, Kyle's parents, Jearod and Shannon were told he would have no quality of life and and had to make the hardest decision of their life to take him off of life support.  They then put this devastating situation completely in God's hands and removed Kyle from life support.  By the Grace of God, Kyle miraculously survived!  After spending months in the hospital and years of rehabilitation, he is now an 11 year old boy who has endured well over 70+ surgeries in the past 8 years.  Kyle rarely complains about his daily struggle and  always tries his hardest even when he needs to us a Gtube, walker, or wheelchair.  He communicates the best he can with his peers, attends a general education 4th grade classroom, and receives specialized services through an IEP.  Kyle's had many ups and downs over the years, but one thing has been constant, his families faith in God.
Kyle has recently been diagnosed with a "new"  Life threatening diagnoses caused from excessive radiation over the years called, Cavernous Malformation in his brain stream.  This is causing Kyle to regress and show signs of neurological difficulities.  He's recently lost a significant amount of weight from being so sick.  The pressure on the brain stem has caused him to hiccup 24/7 for the past two weeks.  Sadly, his body hurts from fighting so hard.  Kyle is such a sweet, fun loving boy, who just wants to feel better, so he can play with his 3 younger siblings, and friends!!
Kyle has an upcoming brain MRI and then surgery is scheduled for June 12th, to remove the Cavernous Malformation, which is located in his brainstem.  This surgery is expected to take more than six hours.
Due to Kyle's recent health set backs and neurological regression, his parents have had to take time off from their jobs to care for him around the clock.  His recovery time frame is unkown at this time.
Obviously, this precious family has gone through more suffering than anyone should ever have to endure.  The least we can do is help support them financially with their bills and help Kyle go on his dream vacation to Hawaii to swim with the dolphins.   Any donation will make a difference.  Please consider supporting this wonderful family.
