Hello, my name is Diane McCalla.
I came to Jamaica to celebrate my birthday and spend some much-needed time with my mom and my sister. It was a special gift for my 35th birthday, which was October 25th. I am currently stuck in Jamaica and have been since October 22nd.
We checked into the Catalonia resort in Montego Bay on October 25th, and since then, we were placed on hurricane watch. The staff has been very accommodating, preparing hot meals three times a day. We currently don’t have any power and are forced to live off of a generator, and don’t know how much longer we can sustain.
My mother has stage 4 breast cancer and I need to get her back to Orlando for treatment for her appointment on November 7th. We have booked flights, but they keep getting canceled.
The little bit of money I have left, I am desperately trying to get tickets for my family and me to get to Kingston so we can fly out from there because Montego Bay doesn’t look like it’s going to open up.
So many others are here as well in tough situations, so we all gotta do what we can. This experience has been unbelievable, and I pray for the rebuild of Jamaica because Melissa has destroyed this beautiful island. I just pray y'all can send whatever y'all can to help us turn what was supposed to be a fun trip around. I appreciate y'all and thank you all in advance.
