John " The Mule" Marshall's Burial
Donation protected
The family of our beloved John Loring Marshall III is trying to raise money for funeral costs after he passed away, unexpectedly, on his youngest son, Casey’s birthday May 9th, 2017. John was a living legend to the community of Granada Hills and was well known around the world.
John was the first candidate accepted into the Face Transplant program at UCLA in a joint effort with his VA physicians. The UCLA team worked with John since 2012 developing a surgical plan for what they hoped would be the most extensive cranio-facial transplant in the western U.S. and a first for UCLA. John’s positive outlook, determination, and willingness to participate in the ground-breaking face transplant inspired the medical, surgical, and nursing teams. While undergoing extensive evaluations and assessments and then waiting for an appropriate donor match, John’s courage in his commitment to undergoing such a risky and ground-breaking procedure never wavered. Not only did he want this for himself, but also for his family, and for the countless other veterans and civilians who have suffered devastating facial injuries.
John loved everyone he met and made a lasting impression. He was always by the phone if you needed to talk or work through an issue because he had been through it all. Please help our family honor John and his decorated military service with the proper burial he wished for and deserved.
