Hope for Patsy: A Journey with ALS

Hello-this is the story of our sweet, loving and caring friend Patsy (Hayes) Sullivan who received the devastating diagnosis-– Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS, often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that gradually robs a person of their ability to move, speak, and eventually, breathe. When Patsy first began symptoms in 2021 with a dropped foot she could never imagine what was to come.

Patsy's vibrant and active life has taken this unexpected turn, yet she has refused to let despair define her. Instead, she choses hope, resilience, and the unwavering support of her tight-knit community of family and friends. We have rallied around recognizing the challenges that lie ahead, and together have decided to set up a GoFundMe page to help the Sullivan's navigate the many financial burdens associated with Patsy's ALS journey and care.

The primary goal of the GoFundMe campaign is to raise funds for a handicap-accessible van and a dedicated home health aide to assist Patsy in her daily life. Now confined to a wheelchair, the family knows that mobility will become a significant challenge getting Patsy to her many doctor appointments as well as traveling to her beloved cottage in Marshfield. Having a van equipped for Patsy's needs would provide a sense of freedom and independence. Additionally, a home health aide would offer essential support, ensuring Patsy's safety and comfort while allowing John and others to continue to care for Patsy.

In the face of ALS, the Sullivan family discovered that hope could be found in unexpected places, and their story inspired others to believe in the transformative power of love and community. Please help us support Patsy, John, Maggie & Michael during the challenging times ahead.
