Vicky’s cancer battle
Donation protected
3 years ago my daughter vicky was constantly unwell, after a number of doctors appointments and scans we were no further forward, then one day she was in excruciating pain and she collapsed, she was rushed straight to hospital where she had a appendectomy, hoping that was the end, but she was still in so much pain, so after numerous trips back and forth to the doctors and hospitals they done another scan and said it was just the scar tissue and to give it a little longer to heal.
In time my daughter had no choice but to go back to work in excruciating pain as she would not get paid.
For the following 2 years ( only described by my daughter ) was the worst 2 years of her life, trying to mask the pain and going to work been so unwell in front of work colleagues and customers been physically sick with the pain and trying to get through her daily shifts until her body couldn’t take anymore, I had to rush her back to hospital for an emergency scan to be told she had a blocked bowel and was then sent home in pain, where she was told to make an appointment with her GP to get some constipation relief, she had already told them she had tried this and it hadn’t worked for her, so they basically said their was nothing else they could do, got back home from hospital and within an hour another surgeon rang her immediately and said I am not happy you were sent home and demanded she goes back in as soon as possible. Hours later of her been back in hospital we got the worst news we could possibly imagine, my daughter was diagnosed with bowel cancer and was told she had to go to theatre for emergency surgery the next morning, she was in surgery for 8-9 hours. After surgery she was told it had spread into the peritoneal cavity and lymph nodes, she was
told it was a very rare cancer what she had, luckily they managed to remove it all in surgery. During surgery they took biopsies, which results showed she was stage 4 which meant this would return at some point because of the cancer she had and she may have to travel back and forth to Basingstoke for several operations.
2 month later being in so much pain again she was admitted back to the hospital for further scans and blood tests that revealed the cancer had returned in the liver and the peritoneal lining, even to the disbelief of the surgeon they said they thought she would be cancer free for at least a couple of year along side a strong dose of capecitabine. This was not the case, she had to start IV chemotherapy as well as the capecitabine. We now into the first month of her chemo journey what has had a massive effect on her already and has still got one year of this treatment to go, the surgeon said he can’t cure her but he won’t give up on her either and will try everything in his power to keep it under control, so I am asking on behalf of my daughter vicky if anyone can donate even a small amount to help us through the biggest battle of our lives to help her financially for travel costs, for the wigs she will need, accommodation and in general to takeaway the financial burden she could do without.
thank you for taking time to read this post and I will also keep everyone updated as and when.
For everyone who knows our Vicky, you will know she has always been a private person and we have always tried to deal with things as a family, so doing this fundraiser has not been an easy choice to make, so thank you for all your support throughout this time.
