LIFE-SAVING SURGERY FOR DENNIS
Dear Friends,
Four year-old Dennis is a happy, loving, intelligent boy who was born with Apert syndrome, a congenital disorder that caused his skull plates to fuse too early, while his brain is growing rapidly. This syndrome resulted in a malformation of his skull, face, and hands. In order for Dennis to survive and develop normally, he has to undergo a series of surgeries. Those surgeries open his air passages and move his jaws, but most importantly they break his skull and allow his brain to expend as it should.First set of successful surgeries was performed on July, 3 and September,11 in 2012.
Next surgery is scheduled on November 17, 2015.This surgery includes separating skull plates, reshaping face bones and separating fingers on his hands (if there is enough funds). The timing for those surgeries is very important. Remember that Dennis's brain is growing but his skull does not. This surgery breaks his skull and allows his brain to expend as it should. A team of craniofacial surgeons from Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan lead by Dr. Kongkrit Chaiyasate are going to perform surgery.
