Little Nick

Little Nick (Nicolas) is a young man that was born with severe Shone’s complex and over the course of his Life (13yrs) he has undergone 17 operations (including 4 open heart surgeries), countless consultations and has spent more time in a hospital then anyone should ever have to. He is a special, sweet child and the GRACE of God has carried him through the many days and many nights in the hospital! It was recently discovered that he has contracted endocarditis (an infection of the heart) for which he is currently under treatment with IV antibiotics. He has multiple stents and has an artificial conduit which serves as his pulmonary artery. Depending on how his current treatment goes, he will need another open heart surgery in the near future to replace his artificial conduit.

Five months ago Nicolas’s father (my good friend and fellow pastor) felt that God was calling the family to Texas. He did not know why or when but upon doing the research he found that the top pediatric cardiology program in the country is in Houston. With Nicolas’s recent health situation the family as a whole feel that the time to move is now. The doctors in Florida also feel that this is the right move for Nicolas as his condition is getting more fragile and more complicated. In fact Nicolas’s current cardiologist studied at the very hospital that Nicolas will be admitted to, which will help make for a smooth and easy transition. Moving to Texas will give Nicolas access to the best medical professionals in their respective fields to help with his complex cardiac complications and give him the best possible chance at a LONG and healthy future.

We have seen the provision of the Lord and witnessed God’s intervention many times in the life of this precious family!

For this move to Texas, there is a need to help cover the costs associated with the move, the resettlement of the family and the lack of income while they establish care for Nicolas as a priority.
