Drum Corps International (DCI) bills itself as "Marching Music's Major League"
Each corps is home to 150 members, ranging from Brass performers, color guard, Front Ensemble and drumline.
Since I was 15 years old, I knew I wanted to be a part of a drum corps.
I started auditioning when I was 18 and learned very quickly that my ability at the time was nowhere near where it needed to be to compete with the best drummers in the country.
Just this past winter, I found myself extremely close to making multiple groups, but, couldn't quite seal the deal.
This is also the last summer I am eligible because there is an age limit of 22.
I honestly was ready to call it quits, and take up jobs to teach local high school bands.
The Cadets, an organization that has won 10 DCI championships, found itself looking for a quad player. I jumped on the opportunity and was able to earn a spot with the group.
However, this comes with a catch: I have until May 18th to come up with $4,000. This covers my spring training, uniform, meals and travel expenses to perform in stadiums across the country.
Money is a little tight right now and I would be extremely grateful for any donation/share!
This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and any help goes a long way!
