3rd Annual Marquita Hannibal-Francique Virtual Run

Dear Friends,
Marquita-Hannibal Francique was a daughter, mother, wife, educator, runner, and so much more to everyone. On December 6, 2018, she passed away. Gone way too soon, yet she accomplished so much in her time. One thing she was unable to fulfill was her dream of having an Autism Awareness run, representing children like our son, AJ and other children living with the disorder. This was one of the last running initiatives close to Marquita's heart.
Every year since her passing, myself and the running community have developed and supported Marquita's wish to bring awareness to Autism by running together and raising money for different initiatives. This year will look a little different due to covid, but we will get the job done in her name.
Goal
In honor of Marquita, her ambition to run, her passion for students with disabilities, and her love for Christmas, we will be running/walking (on our own) and raising money to purchase gifts for low-income families with pre-kindergarten children living with Autism.
In partnership with The Harlem Child Development Center , we aim to provide gifts to at least two local families in that school community, and more if we can surpass our goal. These families have been identified by the school director, Michele Finkelman, as parents to children with Autism who fall under the low-income category, and have had difficulty coming up with the necessary equipment for remote learning. The gifts will be 50% educational, and 50% recreational, giving the kids what they need and want this year. All gifts will be wrapped and delivered to each family before Christmas to bring some holiday cheer to their household regardless of their financial ability and especially their disability.
It's exactly what Marquita would've done.
Between now and December 11th, run/walk, donate, and share to bring awareness to Autism, and to always remember Quita .
