I’m fundraising for Marcos Martinez after he had a very severe accident early Wednesday morning last week. As many people know Marcos runs his own dress designing business, MMD. With the high demand preparing for Embassy and USDC, he ended up working until 4:30am Tuesday night. Unfortunately, after hours of sewing he tripped and was stabbed in the neck by a pair of sewing scissors, barely missing his carotid artery. Unable to muster the strength to get to his car to drive to the hospital, he bled out for several hours before he managed to call 911. Once in the hospital he received a blood transfusion, a CT, and an esophageal scan. As the first person to arrive to the hospital, it was very difficult to see Marcos so weak and helpless. We all know him as an incredibly strong and composed man, seeing him in this state really helped me understand the severity of this accident. He is now out of the hospital but still incredibly weak and unable to work or leave his home. Marcos had given so much to our tight-knit dance community not only here in Utah, but across the country. We are asking for any help that we can get to help Marcos get back on his feet both physically and financially, as his designing business is his sole source of income.
