Dear family and friends,

As some of you already know, my brother in law Matt Brossard, has been diagnosed with a rare cancer called Chondrosarcoma. After a year of dealing with hip pain he had an MRI in October that found a large aggressive tumor in his right pelvic bone. After two biopsies it was confirmed that he had type 2 Chondrosarcoma, of which major surgery to remove half his pelvis is the only treatment.

Unfortunately a cancer diagnosis is not new for Matt. He was diagnosed in 2008 with testicular cancer and underwent surgery and intense chemotherapy. He beat his cancer diagnosis and despite the odds was able to have three daughters afterwards. These three girls mean the world to him and give him the strength and determination to continue to fight this next cancer battle.

Matt’s 1st surgery is planned for February 14th. After this surgery he will be wheelchair bound, non- weight bearing on that right side until a second surgery can take place, about 8 weeks after. This second surgery will be a placement of the permanent custom implant pelvic bone. This 2nd surgery will allow him to start physical therapy to walk again.

Matt’s last day of work was Jan 31st. He had been on light duty for two months and he will never be able to return to his original job of being an HVAC installer due to the physical nature of the work.

Angie will be Matt’s caregiver while recovering and will be the sole income for their family. She will be able to work for a portion of his recovery but will likely be taking intermittent leaves due to the length of which he will be recovering from both of these surgeries.

They are anticipating at least a 6 month recovery for both of these surgeries if all goes as planned. There is a long road ahead with many unknown’s. The doctors are vague in what they can expect because there are so many variables that could impact the success of his recovery.

We are creating this page for Matt and Angie’s friends and family to offer up prayers, good thoughts and donations during this difficult time. Any money donated will go towards Matt's medical expenses and cost of equipment and transportation needed during his rehabilitation and recovery. The financial toll this will have on their family is significant, and they hope to keep their life at home as normal as possible for their daughters. They are humbled by the outpouring of love and offerings of support that they have already received throughout this time of a lot of uncertainty. Thank you for being there for them, however big or small, the fact that you care means a lot to them!
