Back Surgery

My name is Karol Bonilla, a wife and mother to the most 2 amazing little kids. For a long time I have been battleing with chronic back pain. I have been patient at the Spine institute of New York note since 2011, patient of DR. Chanland Roonprapunt. We have had the possible surgery talk for a while now, but who really wants to have back surgery. Long story short we have tried everything non invasive on the books to avoid getting to this point.

Physical and aquatic rehab. Yoga. Accupunture. 4 failed epidural injections.

For the past 2 yrs my pain increased daily. I've had falls, weakness,having to call out from work days at a time just do that I could be able to take my pain medications (which by the way they suck). From Lancaster I was sent to see a neurosurgeon and an orthopedic spine surgeon and a different pain management doctor's Because they have better resources at Penn medicine. Well no one wanted to help I was turned away many times. So I've decided to come see DR. Roonprapunt  in NYC again. He also referred to see DR. Baron Lonner a very well known orthopedic spine surgeon. They both agreed that at this point surgery is my best option.

Fast forward to May 25, 2017. I have had my surgery. Which by the way is going so good so far. I am walking. I am also taking Tylenol for pain and not the narcotics given.

My situation, day of surgery while we meet with financial counseling we were told we had a $5000 co payment, that we were never informed off. Obviously we did not have that kind of money on us, they informed us that they will proceed with the surgery and bill us. Apparently we have to make a $8000 payment to Aetna wbeforwvtgey can start making payments since we envee meet our $10,000 deductible,.

We are in need of help any kind of help possible. My husnabd is the only on working and we have no other sources of income. I really needed this surgery, I had days I was unable to walk, dress myself, care for my kids, but I still kept a full time job. Dont have many benefits because its a private owned practice and due to my call offs to my ER visits.  Doctors appts physical and aquatic therapy I also ran through must of my paid daysoff and sick balance. My FMLA also only holds my job forb12 weeks so I am prayimg daily that I can go back to work before my 12 weeks is up.

I'm here asking for ahelp from the bottom of my heart. I did not know what else to do. Any little bit helps more than you can imagine.. the medical bills are pilling up one on top of the other which is causing an emotional wreck on myself as well as  my family.
