My grandmother and grandfather came to Oahu on vacation mid-April, and as of April 28th, my grandmother has been admitted in the hospital in critical condition in the ICU at The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. I have pulled every string to get my mother out here from Richmond, California, to take care of her as of 5/1 and as she has gotten worse and in fear of losing her, flew my father and I out as of 5/4. We have been here a week collectively and we are already out of money - I have maxed both of my small limit credit cards on rooming fees, travel fees, and plane tickets, as well as food and other necessities to live out here. As you can imagine, Hawaii is very expensive as a tourist location and with import taxes. In this week alone, with rooming, plane fare, taxi / Uber fare and food we have gone through all of our savings, including my university tuition for next year. We are fearful as my nana still has at least 8 more days of antibiotic treatment and God knows how much more recovery time as she is near total organ failure but with a fighting spirit. Her first surgery was successful but we are still fighting for the underlying problems. I very humbly ask for any and all support - as of right now, we are still facing a need for room and travel fare around the island, as well as the need for air fare when this is eventually over in order to return to the mainland. Thank you so much, from all of us. - Monica Martinez The Martinez Family The Yunson Family
