The 3R Fund for Immigrants is a nonprofit formed in 2018 to provide funds to immigrants and their families in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky who have been detained by immigration authorities. The purpose is to ensure that they receive the due process ensured by U.S. law and our common humanity.
Individuals detained by immigration authorities are often granted bonds by immigration judges where they pose no publsic safety risks and/or have family members that depend on them. Paying bonds allows families to be together while the case proceeds, instead of remaining separated at taxpayer expense. These bonds range from several thousand dollars to $10,000 or more, which is beyond the resources of most immigrant families.
People with cases before immigration authorities have a constitutional right to an attorney (at their own expense), which is beyond many immigrant families' resources. Having quality counsel can make a very significant difference in legal outcomes.
This fundraiser is ongoing, but will be promoted in conjunction with Cincinnati area "Lights for Liberty" vigils recognizing the important American ideals of respecting human beings rights and dignity.
While we are a registered nonprofit with the state of Kentucky, we have not yet filed with the IRS for 501(c)3 status, and so cannot offer the certainty of tax deductibility for donations as of 7/13/19. We do intend to do so very soon. Sorry!
Please consider making a gift TODAY, 7/12/19, national day of Lights for Liberty. Thank you!
