Our Ambassadog needs us

Not many may know the story of how Watermelon Mountain Ranch began. One late evening our founders Lee & Sophia DiClemente were driving toward Placitas and witnessed a small young dog being thrown from a car and left to die. They immediately pulled over and took the pup in. This skinny, matted and loving dog was Molly. This incident pushed Lee and Sophia to start WMR and the mission to save animals across the state of New Mexico. Molly became the ambassadog for WMR, visiting schools, going to council meetings and giving Lee & Sophia the inspiration to keep going. Molly has grown with the organization and is a constant reminder of why we do what we do.

She helped to alert Sophia to Lee's cancer in 2009, and stayed by Lee's side through his entire treatment. Molly was tested multiple times at Presbyterian and was able to smell cancer in various people. She truly is a remarkable pup. And now Molly needs you. She has recently been diagnosed with melanoma cancer. Surgery is needed to help Molly get through this. Lee passed away in 2010 from his battle and we are ready to help Molly fight now.
