Linda Fahey Cancer Journey Costs

Hello everyone, my name is Katherine. Linda Fahey is my mom and she is an exceptional mom and best friend and has been my entire life. She is beautiful on the inside and outside. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother. You know, she is one of those moms who always tells you, “You can do anything you want to in life.”, and she really means it and will do whatever she can to help and support you to make it possible. She has done this for all of her children and grandchildren (who are really more like her children). Not only has she been an incredible force behind all of her children and grandchildren, but she has spent her life loving and helping children. She was a amazing lawyer who practiced mostly family law and helped so many children and their families. She was an exceptional teacher for kindergarteners, first graders, a reading specialist who helped children read on level that others said never would, and she taught college courses, one of which was a Humanities course that she taught to military while living in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where she received a standing ovation on her last day. She truly looked for the beauty in every child and then helped them to bring it out.
My mom has been fighting metastatic cancerous brain tumors for a few years now. Last March she had a surgery to remove a brain tumor in which her left side was left with loss of movement, but she eventually was able to get it moving with her leg almost back to what it was while a handicap with her left arm continued. But then the tumor came back. She tried a hormone therapy which is similar to chemotherapy last summer that was too unbearable to continue using. Then the hospital she attends received laser ablation technology and they performed another surgery that went really well but then again more tumors came back into her brain. On March 8, 2016 she went through another brain surgery to remove two tumors and during the surgery she also suffered a stroke. Her left side was not working at all. We were all afraid that it may never come back, especial her, but then just a couple days ago on April 1, 2016 she got some movement in her leg. She still has a very long way to go with rehabilitating her leg, but this was a miracle and we are all bursting with joy and this is not an exaggeration. She still has no movement in her arm right now, but we have hope it will come back with therapy.
This journey that my mom has faced with cancer and brain tumors that keep coming back has been an extremely hard and taxing road. Her life has been significantly changed and she continues on a long, hard journey that will go on forever. Rehabilitation will be a lifelong process. With this last incident we now have to get her much needed equipment like a wheelchair, a hospital bed, and make her living area handicap accessible. These costs add up very quickly which is why we are asking for help. Any contribution is truly appreciated from my mom and from all of us. Thank you.
