Jeremy Royer's Medical Fund

Donation protected

On Sunday, May 7th, Jeremy woke up from a nap and was completely paralyzed from the chest down. I was an hour away with our girls taking care of my grandfather; thank God our 15 year old son was at the house with him. Jeremy was sent to Memorial Hospital by ambulance and then transferred to St Mary’s Hospital in Evansville where he was sent in for emergency surgery. He had a severely herniated disc in his neck, his neurosurgeon Dr. Weaver had to remove the herniated disc and put a cadaver bone in its place. Because of the doctor using a bone in the place of a spacer, his healing is very important due to the bone needing to graft with his own vertebrae, any fall and he could be instantly paralyzed. Because of this reason and because of the blood clots in his lungs, he requires twenty-four hour supervision. Before Jeremy’s injury, he was the one working to support our family while I took care of our four children. Due to Jeremy needing twenty-four hour supervision, I have been unable to find a job because I have been taking care of him and our children. Due to driving back and forth from the hospitals after his almost 20 day stay and paying what little we could on food and bills, our savings has been completely drained. Our rent and utilities are all late and we are looking at our utilities being shut off. His medical bills are astronomical and keep coming in. Jeremy has an appointment with Social Security Disability for the end of the month, if he is approved; it could be another 4 to 5 months before he is able to draw a check. We were told that he shouldn’t have a problem being awarded disability because he has been deemed “frail” by the state of Indiana. I am starting to look for a night shift job because we cannot afford a sitter during the day and Jeremy is unable to look after our children due to walking with a walker, numb and tingly extremities, and because he is unable to even lift our youngest daughter.

It is very difficult for our family to ask for help of any kind; by we would be more than appreciative for any assistance you could offer at this time.
