Ghost is more than just a pet, he is a sweet, gentle soul who loves everyone he meets. He truly just loves life, and anyone who has met him knows his joyful spirit. Most importantly, Ghost is my son’s best friend. Seeing the bond they share is a constant reminder of why I have to keep fighting for him.
What started as what we thought was a simple allergic reaction has turned into a long, frightening medical mystery for my dog, Ghost. It began with facial swelling and Ghost licking himself raw, but a trip to the vet revealed something much more serious: his platelets and red blood cells were dangerously low. Ghost’s own body was destroying his red blood cells. But they didn't know why. They thought it might be an autoimmune condition.
For a while, we thought we had things under control. Ghost was doing well until he suddenly began peeing blood. With his regular vet closed, we rushed him to the emergency vet, where we learned his white blood cell count was spiking, his platelets were low and his body was still attacking itself. His blood work showed he could become critical at any moment.
We have been working closely with Internal Medicine specialists to find the "why" behind Ghost's condition. To date, I have spent $6,000 on emergency visits, specialist consultations, and testing. Despite all of this, we still don't have a definitive answer as to what is causing this. The possiblity of Cancer might be on the table but as of right now, that is not something they believe is the most probable reason for his issues.
Ghost is a fighter, but I have reached a point where I can no longer keep up with the mounting costs. I recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to cancel his next follow up appointment because the funds simply aren't there.
I am starting this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of the continued Internal Medicine testing and future treatments Ghost needs to survive. My goal is simple: to finally get the answers Ghost deserves and continue with treatment so he can go back to being the happy, healthy dog he was meant to be for as long as possible.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
Specialist follow up appointments.
Advanced diagnostic testing and blood work.
Necessary medications to stabilize his immune system.
If you aren't able to donate, please consider sharing Ghost's story. Your support, whether through a donation or a share, means the world to us during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for helping me fight for Ghost.
