Words from Gabriella, Wade's Mother
Becoming parents was something my husband and I wanted so badly, we were so ready for this new journey in our lives! For six days, we were blessed with experiencing so many joys of parenthood, we worked together as a team and were able to love on our newborn son so much he was perfect in every single way! Wade slept peacefully, he looked around our house in curiosity, captured the hearts of our dogs and cat, loved skin time with his daddy and mommy and always tried to look up at us... the only things he wasn't too fond of were diaper changes and getting too hungry. But even still, his cries were faint, he was the sweetest baby I have ever met! Wade was born a fighter, he had the most incredible birth in the comfort of our own home, he fed like a champ, he enjoyed being outside and getting fresh air, his first bath was fun and he loved getting a full body massage after that bath
On Wednesday night, our baby was restless, we tried comforting him all through the night. He slept some, but whimpered on and off. Wade only would take drops from me during feedings that night... Thursday morning, he ate better, but not for as long of sessions as he had earlier in the week. He kept pushing away but trying for more... As the morning went on, his breaths were short and his belly button area was turning purple, so my mom and I rushed him to the ER.
Hours later, he was flown by helicopter to OHSU for an immediate surgery, the surgeons told us once we arrived that our baby had a very rare condition in his intestine. He suffered from a rapidly progressing infection that caused his entire intestine to die, there was nothing they could do to save our baby... Hearing this news devastated us, we never thought we would only have six days to love on our first born son... I am still in shock. But, he truly was an angel and I know he must have been too pure for this world, God has bigger plans for him in better places... I just miss our little guy so much! I always wanted to meet an angel, I just never realized I would be blessed enough to mother one. Wade was guided into this world through the loving arms of his daddy and left this world peacefully in those same arms.
