Support Sophia's fight against cancer

Hello Friends,

I’ve known Sophia since the freshman year of college. We were roommates throughout our college experience. She has always been a cheerleader for those of us who are quiet, and uncertain of what path to take. She has always encouraged us to dream, and not to be discouraged when life gives us a lemon. She's always had our backs during our trials and tribulations. She is generous with her time and her God given gifts. Her smile lights up the room. Her genuine concern for others has made many of us feel valued and included.

She moved to Ohio to help her Dad when he was battling cancer. Today, she faces the same challenge. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago, and underwent chest surgery 5 years ago. As of Nov-2024, she is now battling stage 4 cancer. The cancer is aggressive and it has spread to her organs, bones, and brain, and she is losing mobility in her legs.

Her treatment plan is constantly changing e.g. medications, chemotherapy, and appointments shift daily. This makes it difficult for the family to keep up emotionally and financially. She has endured multiple emergency room visits and hospital stays. She was hospitalized last month for two weeks due to a bacterial infection. In her immunocompromised state, she has been fighting each and every day. She has always been a fighter and sets an example of what it means to be a strong woman.

Sophia’s biggest shortfall is accepting praise and asking for help. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial burden and allow the family to focus on making the most of the time they have with her.
