Please help RALPH!

Hi,

My name is Kerry and I am the Mum of 3 year old RALPH the whippet! On Monday evening 5/9, I came hone from work to let Ralph and his brother Gilbert outside for zoomies. As Whippies tend to sleep for most of the day, they were both super excited to get out and burn off some energy. I let the boys play whilst I went to make myself a cup of tea. But, only minutes later I was alarmed to the sound of the most horrendous squeal!!!! I raced outside to see Ralph standing on 3 legs, Gilbert at his side looking deeply concerned and worried, almost as if trying to help but couldn't. Ralph couldn't move. He was obviously in shock panting profusely, shaking and squealing in pain. I tried quickly to examine him looking for any obvious injury. A golf ball sized lump appeared on his elbow/knee joint on his right front leg.

I still have no idea what happened, whether a collision with each other or he ran into something at full speed. Whatever the case, poor Ralph couldn't weight bare at all, let alone walk! I carefully picked him up and took him inside and laid him on his bed, grabbed an ice pack and called the vet immediately.

Ralph had to be sedated so that the injury could be determined and diagnosed. The vet told us that the break was a very rare and unlucky break that he had not seen anything like before. The fracture runs the length of the bone and across as well. He mentioned that the repair is out of his league and that Ralph would need to be referred to a specialist at Roseworthy Veterinary clinic for the surgery. At the moment we are looking at approx $5000 -$10,000 for the surgery and aftercare. Unfortunately, we just don't have this amount of money to spare and are kindly looking for your support to help us get Ralph's leg operated on and fixed. Please if you could spare even the smallest amount, every little bit helps. If we can't raise the funds needed, the only other option is to have Ralph's leg amputated. I honestly do not want to go down this path if I don't have to. Please for Ralph's sake, can you please help us save his leg. Your support and kindness would mean the world to both Ralph and his family.
