Peacock Power's Solar-Powered Multi-Use Rig
With the news of a baby on the way, Caleb and I have successfully bought a house and gotten married! Now Caleb is laser-focused on supporting our family by sky-rocketing his dual careers as a solar electrician and a DJ. Amidst all of this accelerated change, the time has come for him to realize his career ambitions, but there's just one thing standing in his way of making his dreams real.
Caleb has long dreamed of a solar-powered DJ booth on wheels that he could transport to parties and festivals to spread the message of sustainable solar power and love through music.
This dream evolved into a dual-purpose rig which would double as not only the above, but also a very functional electrician's van which he can stuff full of tools and equipment to spread his solar message in a more physical sense by installing off-grid solar systems throughout our community and all over the peninsula. Within the incredibly supportive container of his job at Power Trip, Caleb has been procuring the necessary trainings and licenses to become an Administrator Electrician, which means he can take on his own electrical jobs and operate his own business. He will still stay on as Lead Electrician at Power Trip for the foreseeable future, but will concomitantly be pursuing his own business, Peacock Power.
In addition to specializing in off-grid solar installations, part of this project of Peacock Power includes training young people in the electrical trade as apprentices; having young trades people in the solar industry will be a majorly important aspect of our societal trajectory towards sustainability and also economic viability for young people and families in our community.
The one thing that has been holding Caleb back from pursuing both his solar-powered DJ booth dream and Peacock Power in earnest has been lack of a rig with which to haul the equipment which would be necessary to do this work. Caleb has finally found this rig, and it is perfect for both of these applications. This Hino van fits his needs perfectly and is a super efficient and long-lived model (watch the above video for more details about the Truck of Destiny).
You can see in the photo the remnants of the Franz bread logo; this used to be a very well-maintained Franz bread delivery truck - with it's super efficient 4-cylinder diesel engine and reliable Japanese construction, these trucks are known to last for a million miles. This combined with it's impeccable maintenance as a Franz fleet vehicle, this truck is sure to be a sound investment.
Caleb saw one of them driving in town and chased it down riding his one-wheel to talk to the driver, who turned out to be our friend Nathan. Caleb asked where he got it and Nathan explained that there's a guy who buys these from Franz and sells them - and he had another for sale with less miles in great shape for a great price. Caleb called the guy up, went to take it for a test drive and decided this is just the rig he needs to fulfill his dream.
He would normally have the money to buy the truck outright, but given the enormous expenses that we've recently incurred with our huge life shifts, he is lacking the money to secure the truck outright any time soon.
Being that we just bought a house, are getting married, and have a baby on the way, Caleb is finding himself short on funds to buy the truck outright. He convinced the seller to accept some earnest money if he can come up with the rest "soon:" The seller has agreed to give Caleb until August 29th to submit the rest of the money - an amount totaling $4,500. This is soon! If he doesn't get the rest of the money by then, he loses both his earnest money and the perfect truck!
Caleb needs your help to make real what will ultimately become a magnetic community asset (imagine the next-level parties we can throw in town!) as well as integral piece of his vision for establishing the career of his dreams that will bring great prosperity to our new family.
This is why we are running this campaign for him now with such an urgent deadline. Please click the link in the comments to visit Caleb's GoFundMe Campaign and consider donating any amount towards this noble cause so that Caleb can continue giving back to the community in an even bigger way than ever.
We love you all and appreciate you holding our dreams and our future in your hearts so lovingly and generously.
