Hi my name is Derrick from Saskatchewan, Canada. I am trying to raise money because I have struggled with weight pretty much my whole life but it has really gotten out of control the last ten years. My brothers were really concerned about my well being and got me admitted into the hospital to get my weight under control and get healthy again. I tried to do it on my own but was always a struggle so I decided to get professional help and things are going well. I started off at 551.2 pounds and currently down to 490, I need to lose another ten pounds to qualify for the surgery here in Canada , the only problem is that there is a 2.5 to 3 year wait to get it done in canada. I am trying to get my life back and not be on disability for the rest of my life and be a drain on society, I don't believe in that. I want to be able to find a good job again so I can be productive in the community again and support myself. I am 48 years old and because of the long wait here in Canada I would like to try and and get the surgery done in either the USA or Mexico so I can get healthy again and get back on with my life . Also from being this overweight has caused a hernia of the lower stomach which basically has a big bulge from my stomach that hangs down past my knees, which makes it harder to walk and is hard on my back and knees. Also because of my weight and not being able to work properly for the last 10 years my mobile trailer is unfit to live in. It was a old trailer to begin with being a 1977 mobile home and poorly insulated , because of a old oil burning furnace and not working properly it is blowing soot through out the trailer. It is also getting mold inside and the flooring is tearing up making it unsafe to walk.
