Nationals for Avalon High School AD Team!

The Avalon School Academic Decathlon (AD) team has made it to the national finals in Frisco, TX, but has to raise all the travel funds to attend. Our team of 9 dedicated decathletes and coaches have worked so hard, so we are asking for your generosity to help them represent Minnesota proudly at nationals! The funding will be used for travel expenses for the team, and any funds beyond $14k for 2023 travel will go to purchasing supplemental study materials (and if enough, travel) for the 2023-2024 Avalon AD team.
For those not familiar, here is what Academic Decathlon consists of, and what our students spent months preparing for in order to compete:
- 7 tests across a variety of subjects, including math, science, economics, art, music, literature, and history, around the 2023 theme of the American Revolution
- An essay contest, choosing one from 3 topics
- A 4-minute prepared speech on a topic of the students choosing and a 2-minute impromptu speech they are only given 1-minute to get ready for!
- A 7-minute interview meant to prepare the students for future situations they will encounter
