Help Robbie Walk!

"Imagine waking up in a hospital after15 days in a coma, not being able to feel or move half of your body. It all started when I walked into the house and told my partner that something was very wrong. I could not feel my left foot, which was twisted sideways as I stood there. Next thing I knew Flight for Life was telling me it was going to be a tight squeeze in the helicopter. During the coma I had only one memory. That was of me with two very special horses… I could feel the mane of my mare falling down over my head. I received a message from them “you do not need to leave this earth”. I replied that I did not want to live unless I could continue to be of service to others, and not be dependent on others for my personal care."
Robbie needs your help to continue her work with children as an occupational therapist on the Navajo Reservation and as an Equine Facilitated therapist providing a program for “youth at risk” with her herd of horses. She already is a medical miracle, but still needs your help! She suffered a stroke in the fall of 2014, which left her with left sided weakness and impaired proprioception; the awareness of muscle and joint movement on the left side. Her stroke on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being death, was an 8. Her partner was told she would probably never walk or talk again.
Robyn writes: “One method of therapy I have learned and seen the most profound results with, in the children I work with, also helped me significantly in my stroke recovery. That method is called MNRI, or Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration. My co-workers, a brilliant and compassionate team, consisting of an O.T., P.T., Speech Therapist and school Psychologist came to the ICU and were allowed to work with me while I was still in an induced coma. It was unheard of that they were allowed inside ICU! Their work with MNRI, had a significant contribution to my healing. The doctors, nurses and therapists all said I was a miracle as I began to move my left side again. I am eternally grateful, and to this day, 3 years post I am still progressing with the help of a positive attitude and MNRI!
My walking continues to be the greatest challenge. I have fallen at least 2 dozen times just getting around at home and in the world. I am back to work for my second year now. It is difficult to work with the children, because the stroke left me with decreased balance and control of my left leg. I have to walk slowly and carefully and I am always in danger of falling while working with rambunctious children. I am so grateful to be alive and to help children with learning disabilities again. The students are very respectful and I hope I am an inspiration for them about living with a disability.
I would benefit significantly from the ability to attend an MNRI family conference, where I can receive daily intensive MNRI therapy. MNRI therapists come from around the world to provide one on one therapy with clients and their caregivers for 6 hours a day. Conferences are offered in 4, 5, and 8 day formats.
I am dedicated to my ongoing healing, believing wholeheartedly in the brain that can change itself until the day we die. Please help me to continue to change the lives of others by improving my capabilities as a therapist. To be a client at the family conference could help me to walk more safely and without pain, to continue my work as an occupational therapist and Equine facilitated therapist, improving my quality of service to others, fulfilling my life’s purpose!
