Maria G. fight w/ Glioblastoma

Donation protected
On Monday, February 27, 2017 my aunt, Maria Gonzales was experiencing numbness on her leg and arm, along with a severe headache and loss of coordination. We thought these were early signs of a stroke and we rushed her to the hospital. We were wrong. Through the course of testing at Memorial Hermann Memorial City, my aunt Maria was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Grade IV. A couple days later, she was accepted into MD Anderson where she decided to move forward with a procedure that would shrink the malignant tumor and its cancerous cells. At the time, her physician shared with us a plan of recovery after this procedure that included radiation and chemotherapy but unfortunately the prognosis of the surgery wasn’t successful as we expected and she has not been able to move forward with further treatment.

Just yesterday, the family had an appointment with her physician to confirm what we were all hoping was not going to be real; they found another tumor, blood clots throughout her legs that have also traveled to her lungs and with Marias health declining, further treatment cannot be provided until her health is stabilized. At this time, through prayer and if accepted into TIRR Memorial Hermann we hope my aunt can regain some of her health to be able to continue care at MD Anderson. We cannot wait to have the Maria we all know and love back.

The outpouring support from Maria’s friends and family has been tremendous. Maria does have Medicare coverage but does not have a supplement plan which helps pay some of the cost Original Medicare doesn't cover. My cousins are facing significant out of pocket expenses and your help is greatly needed. Monetary donations of any amount are welcome.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers to get her and her family through this difficult time. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness and continued support!
