Grayson Ryan

As everyone knows I’m not one to ask for anything from anyone, but Grayson being in the hospital for the better part of 9 months and me not being able to work due to his medical needs has taken a toll on me financially and we are now at the point of transferring to CHOA which is over an hour from our home.

What has happened-

Grayson was born prematurely at 36 weeks from what was believed to be stress related preterm labor, most likely because of dealing with Graysons dad (Austin) passing away in September of last year. Immediately Grayson was taken to the NICU for respiratory distress where he spent 11 days. Upon his discharge he was seen by his pediatrician and admitted into the hospital for failure to thrive and vomitting, we had 3 admissions in Warner Robins before we were referred to GI specialists in Macon who immediately admitted him into the children’s hospital for the same reasons, at this point he was a month old and weighed less than he did when he was born. They placed an NG tube to try to provide him some nutrition but this again was met with vomiting and no weight gain. We eventually transitioned to an NJ tube then a surgically placed g button and now finally a GJ tube, countless tests have been ran and scopes and we have no answers. He is currently dependant on TPN and Lipids which is nutrition directly into his bloodstream through a central line. This is not ideal as it runs high infection risk and the risk of liver damage.We’ve spent about 90% of Graysons life in the hospital in Macon, now at the recommendation of our pediatrician and our GI team we are heading to CHOA hoping for some answers and new consultations to try to provide our family with some clarity and answers for Grayson. This is our last resort in the state of Georgia before our insurance will allow us to seek out of state care. This money will be used for our travel expenses and costs associated with the hospital stay to hopefully lessen our burden.
