Shannon Kay Dickey (O’Fallon), age 37 of Wylie, TX, formerly of New London, devoted mother, teacher and caregiver, passed away on February 11, 2016, at her childhood home in New London with her family by her side, as a result to Glioblastoma (GBM) Brain Cancer. A celebration of her life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Gateway Community Church in Wylie, TX. Visitation will be held after the service at the church. Shannon Kay Dickey was born on November 16th, 1978 in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Robert & Teri (Hirschey) O’Fallon. She grew up in New London and graduated from New London-Spicer High School in 1997. She continued her education at Concordia College, graduating in 2001. On June 17, 2005,
Shannon was united in marriage to Brian Joseph Dickey. To this union a son and daughter were born. They made their home in Dallas Fort Worth Area where for the last 11 years, Shannon was an accomplished and well respected Wylie ISD 5th-6th grade English & Language Arts school teacher. Shannon had many beloved friends & co-workers residing in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Shannon was a devoted follower of Christ, and a member of Chase Oaks Church in Plano, TX. She was a wonderful wife and an excellent mother to her two children, and many school students who didn’t have a strong family background. Shannon was a caregiver at heart, never expecting anything in return. Shannon was loved by her family, friends, school faculty and many of her students, whom provided support during her illness.
Shannon died on February 11, 2016, at her childhood home in New London with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Brian Joseph Dickey; children, Peyton Joseph Dickey, age 6 and Karli Kay Dickey, age 3 of Wylie, TX; parents, Robert & Teri O’Fallon of New London; three sisters, Katie O’Fallon of Hollywood, FL, Megan (Tony) Whelchel of Paynesville, and Kelsey (Justin) Hanson of St. Cloud; grandparents, Patricia O’Fallon of Paynesville and Dareld & Janice Hirschey of Glenwood, father and mother-in-law, Eugene & Shirley Dickey of Plano, TX; brother-in-law Wes (Kristi) Dickey of Rowlett, TX; a niece and two nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Shannon was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bob O'Fallon, and uncle, Michael Hirschey.
