Destinys Road To Recovery

On April 3rd, 2017, Destiny was involved in a car accident with a chevy Silverado. She was crossing the street in her car to get to a stoplight when the Chevy T-boned her, crushing the left side of her car and pushing her car quite a few feet. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and had been unconscious upon impact. For 7 hours, Destiny was by herself until a friend of hers was able to finally track down a way to reach my parents. That night around 1030pm my parents were told what happened to their daughter and then proceeded to call me as they rushed to the hospital. For about 2-3 days no one knew how she was hurt or where it happened or who else was involved because the police wouldn't give them an official report yet. All we knew was that Destiny had been placed on a ventilator, had a broken pelvis, and a really bad concussion. Destiny had feeding tubes placed in her intestines through a surgery and eventually got a hole put in her throat to help her breathe better and more on her own with the help of a vent. We then found out she had a traumatic brain injury which caused a lot of swelling in her brain. We were told that she had Diffuse Axonal Injury (DAI) which affects the nerve fibers connecting the brain and spine which leads to physical and cognitive abilities to be affected. It's been 8 days and she still has yet to regain full consciousness and has to have another surgery because she got out of her restraints and pulled her tubes out of her body, so they had to go back in and replace them and clean everything. She now has a greater risk for infection. On top of this all, not only will she have to have intense rehab for her pelvis, she will have to relearn how to do everything; walk, eat, swallow, talk, speak, and many other basic functions a 19-year-old should be able to do. We are asking that you all please continue to pray for Destiny and that you keep her in your heart as she will need it. We also ask that you donate whatever it is that you can for her months if not years of rehabilitation and medical bills that my parents insurance will not be able to cover. Anything helps, even a dollar. Please feel free to share and I will update you all when there is something to update on.
