On April 8th my father passed away from a rare form of brain cancer no one even knew he had until it was too late.
Dad was the kindest man I had ever known who would give his last penny away to anyone who needed it. He wasn't one to save money for himself, he lived for each day and his family. We, his family wanted to start this page for anyone who wanted to help give the best send off we can for the most deserving person they could.
We never expected to lose our father, husband, grandad and friend and therefore hadn't financially prepared for this heartbreaking event.
We want to have a nice place on the seafront, his family and friends can sit and visit him. Dad loved the beach, we spent most days there and we think that's where he would want his memorial to be.
Thank you so much in advance for your kindness..
Love Kevin's family x
For anyone who doesn't know his story, Here is a quick summary -My dad last year only had stage one colon cancer that was easily treatable. His doctors in London have said he was overlooked by our local hospital Worthing and Brighton for treatment. He didn't receive strong enough treatment and should have had an op before being left for 4 months. It's disgraceful that after having cancer in a place that can metastasise you arnt given a full body scan, most likely due to cost. It was only November when he was told he was cancer free.. the cancer had already metastasised to his brain stem and been growing a while as well as having a large tumour grow back in the colon. He had called Brighton cancer centre many times to report symptoms like numbness in his body, dizziness and blurred vision and they told him to take pain killers and that it would Improve. If I had any inkling that his so called "cured cancer" had spread We would have sought private doctors for him to be checked, we thought it had gone because we were told so by "proffesionals" and told not to worry about said symptoms. Even when they found the tumour he was sent home from Worthing, referral not sent off and scan never looked at and followed up until it was too late, within 5 days of being sent home, the tumour had paralysed him, unable to move or speak and caused irreversible damage that may have been prevented by steroid treatment on his initial visit. The negligence of these hospitals cost my dad his life and he was such a kind trusting man he believed they'd never leave someone who needed urgent help. I tried everything possible to save him and so did his team at charring cross hospital but they'd already ended his life when they did this too him.
I'd really like to tell some of the people involved in these mistakes what they have taken away from his five children, his wife, and his friends. The world has lost a rare and beautiful person.
