Hi Everyone,
So What Happened?
Most of you know Tyler my son, On Wednesday March 25th he was in a horrific car accident on Hwy 49 coming back from taking a drug test for a life changing career change. Which he was supposed to start on Monday. In a nutshell Tyler suffered whats known as an "Internal Decapitation" and Doctors told us that he is a very luck man as normally he had a 30% chance or making it with the injuries he had below. It was a miracle that even after the accident, the first responders, Fire Department and EMTs attending to him, getting him on a back board and immobilized and the ride there to the Emergency Room.. at any point there he could have been paralyzed or worse from the broken neck.
What Got Broken and Bruised
Tyler had to have a plate attached to the back of his skull and his C1-C2 fused and attached to that plate. He suffered 7 broken ribs, a broken scapula, tear in his spleen, T1 thru T6 is compacted, a punctured lung, with over 90% pulmonary contusions (bruised lung), Facial and skull fractures in the front and back.
What The Outcome Is So Far.
Evidently his guardian angels said “hold my beer, watch this” and is luckily, back home. Due to COVID19 they released him a little early to make bed space for incoming patients, so we are doing a lot of appointments via phone and video. He will not be able to use arms above his shoulders much for 3 months. He will have neck brace for 5 to 7 months and then after that, he will then start PT for about 6 months plus or however long it takes.
How We Hope to Help Tyler:
In the near term we are focusing on making him as comfortable as possible. He will need to find a new profession that is easier on his body in the long run. A lot of friends and family have asked how they can help and suggested we set up a GoFundMe account and use money as needed for his medical needs, replace things he lost, and other needs that may arrive.
