Hi all,
As some of you may know my sister Katherine has been sick for the better part of 2022, finally, after many specialists on July 19, 2022, my and my family's lives were rocked when a doctor was finally able to give her a diagnosis, and unfortunately, it was Advanced Gastric Cancer, an adenocarcinoma with signet ring features. This is an aggressive and fast-moving cancer with a low survival rate but even while the initial prognosis wasn't the best or most hopeful, every subsequent scan and procedure has been. By the grace of God she has been strong in her treatments and through every hospitalization and procedure, she has been through.
My sister has always been a strong, independent person, but now she needs our help.
As insane as it sounds her insurance has denied her chemo treatments as it is considered "nonspecialized" per their policy. Every treatment is a minimum of a $500 payment. Every office visit (and there are so, so many) is a $50 copay.
The original plan of action was 4 rounds of chemo, surgery to remove the tumor, and then another 4 rounds of chemo. She has successfully completed the first 4 rounds but now her most recent CT, unfortunately, shows some signs of spreading so she is being asked to do more chemo.
We of course appreciate everyone's thoughts, prayers, and support.
We also ask for your help in raising funds to help her pay for the chemo and any other medical bills.
Thank you all so much in advance.
