Lil Rocquette needs double ACL repair surgery on both her knees. We were out at the park a few weeks ago playing her favorite game of fetch in the biggest field we can find. On the 3rd or 4th throw she came up lame halfway back to me and refused to put any weight at all on her back left leg. So much so, she straight up laid down and was done running for the day. I actually had to carry her out of the park that day because she was unable to walk on her knee/eg.
I made appointments with my normal vet ASAP. Got in, got x-rays and then referred out to for a consult. Initial diag from my normal vet was partial/full ACL tear in her back right left. Typical corrective action is TLPO surgery which averages around 6-7k per knee and has approximately an elongated 3-5 month recovery period and a whole lot of taking it easy.
Today we had our consult with Summit Vet, the specialist, and it confirmed that she definitely has a torn ACL in her back left as expected and will be needing surgery. I was prepared for that bill and was making plans to be able to make that work and get her taken care of.
What I was not prepared for was the Dr. telling me it's actually both knees that need surgery as both have torn ACLs and need to be fixed. Total bill being somewheree between 10-14k once all is said and done. This covers surgery on both back knees as well as all the follow up appointments after surgery is completed.
Surgery is scheduled for December 5th. We check in at 7am that day, she will have her surgery about noon or so and be out around 4pm. She has to stay the night for 1 night and then I pick her up the next day and we come home and start the road to recovery.
Assuming everything goes well and there are no complications Rocquette will get metal plates and re-enforcement in both knees and will be back to 100% by the time summer arrives and should have no more issues and live a full, fast and happy life moving forward. Thank god!
But... Im reaching out for something I don't typically reach out for. Help. Of the financial variety. Anything and everything donated is going to my best friend and her comfort and care. I don't ask, nearly ever. But here we are. Any little bit to help off-set this giant bill would be so very much appreciated and mean the world to me. Thank you all so very much, I owe ya!
