Our family resides within 100 yards of the North St. Louis house explosion that occurred on August 25th. During the event, our home sustained significant damage from the shockwave while my mother was present. The impact resulted in shattered windows, a dislodged patio door, displaced wall fixtures, and ceilings that are now cracked or partially collapsed. The structural integrity of the house has been compromised, rendering it uninhabitable and displacing our family indefinitely.
Making matters even more difficult, my mother is still recovering from hip surgery she underwent just two weeks before the explosion. Her limited mobility makes dealing with this displacement especially difficult, and I've had to take leave from work to provide her with the necessary care and support. This unexpected tragedy has placed our family in a very tough spot as we try to manage her recovery alongside the loss of our home.
Having been our home for over three decades, this residence holds countless cherished memories. It is with a heavy heart that we find ourselves seeking assistance during this uncontrollable and unsettling time. We humbly request support and prayers as we navigate these difficult circumstances and come to terms with the situation.
