Help Hawkins Family With 2nd FuneralDear family, friends and loved ones,2017 has been an emotionally hard year for me, my brothers and sister. On January 28, 2017, we lost our mother to cancer after a three year battle. Never did we imagine that we'd be faced with a scenario so similar just two months later. Two weeks ago my brother and I sat at the hospital in critical care with my dad, wondering what tomorrow will bring. On March 21st, he'd suddenly collapsed and was found unresponsive. Due to a lack of oxygen for some time, he suffered significant brain damage and though the outcome didn't look promising, we still held on to our faith and hope. We tried to remain positive and prayed hoping for a miracle. At times we were very frustrated, confused and constantly trying to understand why all this stuff was happening. The thought of losing another parent was unimaginable. After a whole week of laying in a coma dad began to show small signs of life. This was encouraging news for us although doctors expected more progress. Faced with the difficult end of life decision, everyday we sat asking him and God to show us a sign. Dad eventually squeezed my hand, opened one eye, and started coughing some. We all breathed a cautious sigh of relief thinking that he was finally coming around. But sadly dad passed away quietly on April 3, 2017. I don't understand why all of this is happening. This has been by far the hardest thing that not just myself, but my brothers and sister have had to endure in our lives. To have lost both of my parents and within a span of two months is heart wrenching and the financial burden is overwhelming and almost debilitating. I am feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders and my heart is heavy. I am seeking your help for whatever you may be able to offer. Thank you in advance for your kindness, love and support.
