At 6:14 am on April 5th, Michael and I watched as our sweet Olivia took her very last breath. She went peacefully, snuggled up in our arms. She is at peace and will no longer suffer. She was so strong her entire life, and towards the end she still showed us amazing strength. The emotions we felt and continue to feel are indescribable. Our world is forever changed. We know she will be welcomed into heaven by both of Michael's parents and my dad. She has known nothing other than love, and will continue to be loved forever.
Our Beautiful Angel ❤
Olivia Lynn Miller was born August 31st 2016 by an emergency C-section due to the cord being wrapped around her neck causing her to go without oxygen. She was a completely healthy baby before this traumatic birth in which she suffered HIE, Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. She was born limp, blue, unresponsive with a heartbeat of 40 bpm and dropping fast. It took 3 hours to get her stable enough to be airlifted to a hospital 30 minutes away. Once she arrived they put her on the cooling blanket which takes her core temperature down to 91.4 F, putting her in a hypothermic coma to reduce brain damage. The parents were told that Olivia had only two hours to live during this 72-hour cooling treatment due to her heart failing. She miraculously proved them wrong, but after a few MRIs her brain had shown severe damage, the worst case they had ever seen in their hospital. Olivia stayed in the NICU for a total of 55 days, where she had many struggles. She had surgery for a Nissen and G-tube, pneumonia twice, intubation, lungs collapsing along with mass amounts of fluid build up.
