Please Help My Mother Fight Cancer
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
On behalf of myself and my siblings, I am kindly asking for financial support for my mother's cancer treatment and living expenses.
Diagnosis and treatment:
My mother, who goes by the name Stella Lum, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2022. She was told by doctors she would need to undergo surgery to have her uterus removed, which was done in June of 2022. The surgery was successful, but in December of 2022, my mother started complaining of pains and trouble breathing. In January of this year I took her to the emergency room where she spent the night and was told the cancer came back and has spread through her lungs. Currently, my mother is undergoing radiation treatment 5 days a week and chemotherapy 1 day a week at different Kaiser centers. She had an additional surgery recently to help her with some of the complications she has been experiencing due to the chemotherapy and radiation.
Financial needs:
Cancer treatment isn't only challenging for the patient, it's expensive, with many associative costs not covered by insurance or even anticipated until yet another medical invoice arrives. Between radiation, chemo, surgery, consultations, scans and more, my mother's medical expenses in and of themselves constitute a massive financial burden. Her standard co-pays are $4,000 depending on the type of treatment she's receiving and the number of appointments she has scheduled.
My mother doesn’t have any source of income, she worked at Ross for only 4 months, but her doctors told her to stop due to her cancer. I am my mother's primary caretaker with the help of my brother, but have been responsible for nearly all of her expenses (medical, transportation, rent, food, etc). As a single mother, my income is insufficient to cover all of her expenses in addition to my son and myself. As a result, I have primarily relied on my credit card to support her urgent medical needs.
Still, we see her smile every day, we see her talk about hope for the future, we see her push on, and we feel the same love we’ve always felt from her. She’s strong, far stronger than we realized, far stronger than any of us could hope to become. She’s a fighter. So we beg, pray, and hope that you can help her continue to fight.
Anything helps (even if it’s just a prayer), thank you.
All donations and support will go directly towards our mother's medical expenses (deductibles, co-pays, and maximum out-of-pocket expenses), treatments, and living expenses.
