Leg up for Luke

Hi Everyone

My name is Nicole, my sister Lisa and I are trying to raise funds for my brother Luke his partner Natalie and Cooper, Luke's 10 year old son.

My brother has been caring for his partner Natalie who is wheelchair bound.

In-between Christmas and New years my brother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in his testicles, stomach, lungs and lymph nodes, he wasn't allowed to leave hospital and had to start chemo straight away, being given the highest dose of chemo that can be given, it was meant to be for 12 weeks.

Within the 1st 3 weeks of treatment he started having a problem with his right leg, he had a blood clot, he had two surgeries to try and fix it and was put into an induced coma in ICU for a week but unfortunately there was no pulse to be found in the bottom of his leg, Luke was moved to a ward to await surgery to amputate his leg, he waited a week in excruciating pain.

That was two weeks ago now, his surgery went well, he is at home but has to start chemo again tomorrow, we are scared there is a chance of further complications.

The hospital has lent Luke a wheelchair for 1 month, it will cost $50 per week to continue use, we would like to purchase the wheelchair, with leg amputee accessorie.

Now that both Luke and Natalie are in wheelchairs, they can not fit both chairs in their modified for disabilities car, and need to purchase a van.

Luke will also require a licence to drive which is a modified hand driven car.

At the moment they are struggling paying for taxi's to and from hospital treatments and to physio appointments, struggling with everyday life, the little simple things.

Luke is still waiting on centrelink to approve disabilities payments and has no Health care card at the moment either so he is also paying full cost for all of the medications he needs.

Luke will eventually be assessed for a prosthetic leg but that that will be a long way off, especially fighting cancer he may not have the energy for rehabilitation.

I would really appreciate if you can understand the impact having stage 4 cancer but also loosing a limb can do to his mental health, I really would love if you could donate for him to help make some of his worries lessen, so he can concentrate on beating this disease.
