This is Amanda Acuna, my best friend. Amanda is a 28 year old mother of three (9, 7, 6 yoa) who was recently diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. She went to MD Anderson to schedule the surgery to have her thyroid removed, but they require $30,000 up front. She does not have insurance and does not qualify for Medicaid.
