Help Avery get Top Surgery!

Hi, my name is Avery and I’m raising funds to help pay for top surgery.

Top surgery has been a dream of mine since I first realized I was trans, I can happily say that I am finally getting this procedure done on the 22nd of April this year! Bad news is, the cost is much higher than I had anticipated.

I’ve been out as trans for almost 7 years, and have worn a binder daily for a large portion of that time. In 2021 I started to experience rib pain and warping, back pain, and breathing issues. I had to stop binding due to the pain and complications it brought me. My chest has brought me so much discomfort throughout my life, since I can no longer alleviate that discomfort through binding, surgery is my only option.

I graduated high school last spring and finally have time to devote to recovery, which is why I’m getting surgery this month. I am autistic, which impacts my ability to work a traditional job. Because of this, I am currently self-employed and all of my income is generated through sales of my art and through my costume commission work. In august of 2023 I contracted COVID, this infection left me with long term issues such as chronic fatigue, muscle and joint pain, chronic headaches, chronic congestion, recurrent ear infections and pain, cardiovascular issues, along with a myriad of other symptoms that I have been managing with the help of doctors since my initial infection. Long COVID has heavily affected my ability to work, and in turn it has affected my income and savings.

Disability has already impacted my future plans, the cost of surgery would further affect my financial security and future. I am hoping to move out of my home and live independently with my wonderful partner sooner than later, and the cost of this surgery would impact my ability to meaningfully contribute to our shared future.

My family and loved ones have supported me immensely through my recent chronic illness, my transition, and everything else in my life. I want more than anything to avoid having them worry about my finances, or to have them feel that this cost is their responsibility in any way.

I will be using funds from my saving to partially cover the cost of my surgery, and to cover my recovery expenses. I plan to use donations from this fundraiser to help me cover the rest of the cost.

Contributions are so unbelievably appreciated, all donations generated from this fundraiser with go strictly towards paying for my surgery. If the goal is exceeded (which would be wild), any remaining funds will be donated to local mutual aid and harm reduction organizations in my city of Tacoma, Washington.
