Hailey is a sweet little girl fighting a terrible disease, DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a brain tumor that is inoperable, highly aggressive, and difficult to treat. Hailey was diagnosed in April 2020, right after she turned three years old, and has since been enrolled in two clinical trials at St. Jude in Memphis and at CHOA in Atlanta. She has been a regular patient at four hospitals and moved from North Carolina to Alabama to be closer to her medical teams. Since June 2021, Hailey has endured 11 MRIs, one port surgery, two radiation simulation studies, two CT radiation scans, 40 radiation sessions, two extended hospitalizations for c-diff, and more blood draws and Covid tests than her parents can count. She’s also had to be sedated more than 50 times since diagnosis prior to each radiation treatment and MRI since she is so young.

Still, Hailey wakes up every day smiling...and usually wanting her breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, and toast. So her parents wake up every day smiling, too. She is a happy four-year-old who wants to paint, draw, play, go back to school, spend time at the zoo and flower garden, enjoy picnics, and play with her puppy Skye.

Recently, things have changed a bit for Hailey. While her respiratory issues have largely resolved, she has some other symptoms that they are managing right now. She can no longer walk unassisted and her speech is more slurred than it has been. Last week she was having more difficulties swallowing clear liquids, but they have started her back on a low dose of steroids which has helped. Her extra secretions have been problematic, but she started to wear a patch behind her ear to help dry those up. These symptoms would be frustrating to anyone, but whenever they ask her how she is feeling, she tells us she is "happy." She still enjoys doing her crafts, playing in her playroom, going shopping, swinging on the playground, going to physical therapy, and going to Starbucks and Jersey Mike's.

Princess Sassypants is tough, but they could use some help.

While they travel to/from treatments in Atlanta (and soon to Seattle), the costs for travel, lodging, and other expenses are going to be a tremendous financial burden. Any donations will go straight to the family to assist with the costs that they are incurring. A lot of the costs had been covered by St Jude and other organizations, but this upcoming treatment will require more out-of-pocket expenses. Her parents are amazing people who have been incredibly strong throughout this.

We know the family truly appreciates all the love and support offered thus far. But as her friends, we are now asking if you are able to provide some financial assistance as well as prayers.

Hailey is a warrior and has been fighting this disease with all she has. Help us help Hailey and her family. If you are unable to donate financially please continue to keep them in your prayers. She is always smiling even through the pain.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and prayers.

With love,

Hailey's Team of Angels
