Rachel’s Road to Recovery

As some of you may know, my 27 year old sister, Rachel, is critically ill in the hospital. She was receiving care at Clear Lake Regional hospital (HCA) and after many prayers was recently transferred to the Neuro ICU at Methodist.
On Tuesday, April 23rd, Rachel had a major stroke due to vessels, and right carotid artery, in her brain being blocked by an autoimmune disorder. At this time, Rachel was still able to slightly close her left hand and lift her left foot about 2 inches. Since then, she has had 7 additional strokes, leaving her left side completely incapacitated, difficulty swallowing and speech.
We currently do not know Methodist’s plan of care as Rachel’s health has changed since the initial plan was created. What we do know is that Rachel will have a long road of healing and intense rehab ahead of her. As previously stated, she no longer has movement whatsoever on the left side of her body. She will have to retrain her brain to remember how to use her left arm and leg.
Many have asked what can you do. While our hearts and prayers go to Rachel for her speedy recovery, a huge medical bill and potential rehab costs are expected for her recovery. We have started this fundraising campaign in hopes to help alleviate the significant cost for her care. Also, Pray. Ask God to place a hedge of protection around her, and to guide the team of healthcare providers following her. Pray for my parents, siblings, extended family and all the people who's lives she's touched. We all need peace during this high stress time.
Every single message sent to Rachel lifts her spirit during this extremely challenging time and it makes our hearts overflow to know we have so many who love and support us. She could not do this journey without God's guidance and army of prayer warriors and friends behind us.
